    State of New York

    I John Fitzpatrick do declare on oath, that it is bona fide my intention to become a Citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Queen Victoria of whom I am a subject.

    In the matter of John Fitzpatrick
    on his Naturalization. State of New York, Jefferson County, ss.

    John Fitzpatrick being duly sworn, says, that for the continued term of five years last past, he has resided within the United States, without permanently departing the same during the said term; and that for one year, last past, he has resided within the State of New York; that it has been his intention to become a Citizen of the United States, and to renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every Foreign Power.

    Henry Cunningham and Lewis Palmer of the county aforesaid, being severally sworn, depose and say, that we are Citizens of the United States, and have been acquainted with John Fitzpatrick for more than five years last passed; that said John Fitzpatrick has resided in the United States for more than five years last past, and within the State of New York Five years; that he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

    I, John Fitzpatrick do swear, that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America and that I do absolutely & entirely renounce & abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Power, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatsoever and particularly to the Queen Victoria whose subject I was. And further, that I have never borne any hereditary title, or been any degrees of nobility.
