    In the matter of Application of
    Anton Webert
    for Admission to Citizenship.

    To the Court of Jefferson County:

    The petition of Anton Webert respectfully shows: that he was born at Trimberg Germany, tht he emigrated to the United States and landed at the port of New York on or about the 15th day of Nov. 1892 * That the grounds on which he claims the right to be naturalized are as follows: That he has resided within the United States for the term of 5 years last passed and within the State of New York for the term of one year past; [the following phrase is crossed out] that two years have elapsed since he declared his intentions of becoming a citizen of the United States
    [written] Came to the U.S. before he was eighteen

    Your petitioner further shows that his full name is Anton Webert; that he is 25 years of age; that his occupation is farming; that he now resides at No. Town Street in the city of Orleans; that he intends to summon as witnesses at the final hearing upon his application Edward J. Tallman who resides at No. Street in the Village of La Fargeville and Edward Barton who resides at No. Street in the Village of La Fargeville, each of said proposed witnesses being an American Citizen.
    Whereupon your petitioner prays that he may be admitted to citizenship of the United States.

    Edward J. Tallman being duly sworn says that his full name is Edward J. Tallman; that he resides at No. Street in the Village of La Fargeville and that his occupation is Produce Dealer; that he is a citizen of the United States and personally well acquainted with the above named Anton Webert, that said Anton Webert has resided within the United States for a term of 5 years last past, and within the State of New York for the term of one year last passed, and during said time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.
    Deponent further says, that he believes that for the portion of the two years next preceding the next term of Court at which said Anton Webert can be naturalized that has elapsed at this date, it has been bona fide the intention of the said Anton Webert to become a citizen of the United States; that the grounds for such belief are as follows:
    Came to the U.S. before eighteen years old.

    Edward Barton of LaFargeville and E. J. Tallman of LaFargeville in the County of Jefferson in the state aforesaid, having been severally duly sworn, in open court, depose and say, each for himself, that he is a citizen of the United States, and is well acquainted with the above named applicant, that said applicant has resided within the United States, continually for the term of five years at least preceding this date, and not elsewhere, and has resided for one year at least and for the last year in the State of New York, and during all that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

    to be admitted a Citizen of the United States.

    Whereas, the said applicant, Anton Webert late of Germany at present of Orleans in the County of Jefferson, State of New York, having at least fourteen days heretofore filed in this Court his petition in due form to be admitted to citizenship, and affidavit of E. J. Tallmann an American citizen filed same date and said applicant now appearing personally in Court, producing the evidence required by the Acts of Congress, having made such declaration and renunciation, and having taken such oaths as are by said acts required, and having filed the certificate required by law,
    It is Ordered by the said Court that the said applicant be and is hereby admitted to be a citizen of the United States of America.

      An interesting side note here.
      Wayland F. Ford, the person who notarized Anthony's naturalization petition, was active in the military. The following information was taken from this page:

      WAYLAND F. FORD is the eldest son of Rev. Lewis T. Ford, who was born in Eaton, Madison county, in 1809, and in time graduated at Madison University, studied theology and entered the ministry. He married Arminda Stetson, of Cooperstown, by whom he had six children - Wayland F., Marie E., William G., and Charles H. Wayland F. was born in LaFargeville, June 26, 1838, during the incumbency of his father as pastor of the First Baptist Church, and was one of the first students in the short-lived Orleans Academy, where he prepared for college going thence to Madison University. In 1856 he began the study of law, and was admitted to the bar in 1861m beginning practice at LaFargeville the same year. In October he enlisted in the 94th N. Y. Infantry, and in March, 1862 was promoted to second lieutenant of Company E, and was discharged by reason of its consolidation with the 105th Infantry. In May, 1863, he enlisted in Troop M, 20th N. Y. Calvary, and was promoted to first lieutenant of Troop D., September 4, 1863, and to be captain of the same troop October 13, 1863. He was discharged with the regiment July 31, 1865, and resumed the practice of law at LaFargeville. In 1866 he married Miss Maria Cline, of Three Mile Bay. Captain Ford has built up an extensive practice, as a result of careful attention to the interests of his clients, coupled with a thorough knowledge of his profession. His sister, Marie E., is the wife of Byron J. Strough, of LaFargeville.
