    The Last Will and Testament of
    John B. Bichet
    Deceased

    Be it remembered, That heretofore, to wit: on the 24th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six Fred E. Croissant of Le Ray, Jefferson County, New York, Executor named in the Last Will and Testament of John B. Bichet, late of the Town of LeRay in the County of Jefferson, deceased, appeared in open Court before the Surrogate of the County of Jefferson and made an application to have the said last Will and Testament which relates to both Real and Personal Estate, proved; and on such application the said Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence who were the heirs at law and next of kin of the said testator, and their respective residences, and they are as follows, viz: Louis V. Bichet of Belfast, Lewis County N.Y., Joseph J. Bichet and Peter Bichet of LeRay, Julia Branche and Celia Branche of Cape Vincent and John F. Bichet of Pamelia all of said County of Jefferson and Francis Bichet of Richville, St. Law. Co. N.Y. Children of said testator all of full age. And Judith Bourcey of Cape Vincent aforesaid, only child of Mary Bourcey, a deceased daughter of said testator, a minor child over 14 years of age having no general guardian.
    And said surrogate did thereupon issue a citation in due form of law, directed to the said heirs at law and next of kin of said testator by their respective names and requiring them to appear before said Surrogate at his office in the City of Watertown, in said County, on the 18th day of March A.D., 1886, to attend the Probate of said Will and afterwards to wit on the 18th day of March A.D. 1886, satifactory evidence by affidavit was produced and presented to said Surrogates of the due service of said citation in the manner prescribed by law - and thereupon said Surrogate duly appointed W. A. Nims, Esq. special guardian of said above named infant for the sole purpose of appearing for her herein, and taking care of her interests in this proceeding, said Special Guardian immediately appeared in person before said Surrogate.

    And afterwards, to wit: on the ___ day of ___ A.D., 188__ satidfactory evidence by affidavit was produced and presented to said Surrogate, of the due service of said citation in the mode prescribed by law, and on that day, no one appearing to oppose the Probate of such Will _______ such proceedings were thereupon had in said Court afterwards, that the said Surrogate took the proofs of said Will__________ hereinafter set forth, upon this 18th day of March A.D., 1886, and he thereupon adjudged the said Will __________ to be a valid Will___________ of Real and Personal Estate, and the proffs thereof to be sufficient, which said last Will and Testament _____________ and proofs, are hereinafter recorded in this book.

    Will

    The last will and testament of John B. Bichet of the town of LeRay County of Jefferson and State of New York. I, John B. Bichet being of sound mind and memory aware of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, and desirous of making an equitable and proper disposition of my property at my decease, I do make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say:

    First

    After the payment of all my debts and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath to my grand daughter, Judith Bourcey daughter of my daughter Mary, deceased the sum of one hundred dollars.

    2nd

    To my son Louis V. Bichet the sum of five dollars and any claim I may have against him for money loaned.

    3rd

    The remainder of my property both real and personal I give, bequeath and devise, share and share alike, to my children Joseph J. Bichet, John F. Bichet, Francis Bichet, Peter Bichet, Julia Branche wife of Louis Branche, and Celia Branche wife of John Branch, or to their legal representatives.
    Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint Frederick E. Croissant of the Town of LeRay to be my executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 12 day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty six.

    The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof subscribed by John B. Bichet, the testator therein named, in the presence of us and each of us, he at the time of making such subscriptions acknowledged that he executed the same and declared the said instrument so subscribed by him to be his last Will and Testament.Wereupon we at his request, and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, do here subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

    Proofs.

    Jefferson County Surrogates Court

    Before Ross C. Scott Surrogate. In the matter of proving the will of the real and personal estate of John B. Bichet deceased.
    County of Jefferson, S.S. - Louis Simonet of the town of LeRay in said County being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that on the 12th day of February 1886 at LeRay aforesaid, he saw John B. Bichet deceased subscribe the instrument now shown to this deponent, and which purports to be the last will and testament of John B. Bichet late of the town of LeRay in said County, deceased bearing date the 12th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six. That on the day of the date aforesaid, and at the time of signing the same, he heard the said John B. Bichet declare the same to be his last Will and Testament and that he, this deponent and Henry B. Matty the other subscribing witness did then subscribe thier names thereto as witnesses at the request and in the presence of the said John B. Bichet and of each other. That at the time thereof the said John B. Bichet was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding of full age, and not under any restraint, and competent to make a will.

    Henry B. Matty of the town of LeRay in said County, being first duly sworn, deposeth and saith, that on the 12th day of February 1886, at LeRay aforesaid, he saw John B. Bichet deceased, subscribe the instrument now shown to this deponent, and which purports to be the last will and testament of John B. Bichet late of the town of LeRay in said County, deceased bearing date the 12th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six. That on the day of the date aforesaid, and at the time of signing the same, he heard the said John B. Bichet declare the same to be his last Will and Testament and that he, this deponent and Louis Simonet the other subscribing witness did then subscribe thier names thereto as witnesses at the request and in the presence of the said John B. Bichet and of each other. That at the time thereof the said John B. Bichet was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding of full age, and not under any restraint, and competent to make a will.

Bichet at the time he executed the same, was in all respects competent to devise real estate, and not under restraint, the said last Will and Testament and the proofs and examinations are hereby recorded, signed and certified by me, pursuant to the Provisions of the Revised Statutes, this 18th day of March A.D., 1886
