      Word has been received here of the death of C. A. Adams, 87 which occurrerd at the home of his son, Wayne Adams, Ludington, Mich., at 4:30 p.m., Friday, March 26. He had suffered a heart attack on Sunday, March 21, from which he failed to rally.
      Mr. Adams was born at Cape Vincent, March 15, 1850, a son of Christopher and Barbara Adams. He was married here 23 years later, on March 5, 1873, to Miss Ella McWayne, who survives.
      The couple remained in this section until 1886, when they removed to Michigan, settling at Hart, where Mr. Adams engaged in the drug business of Cady and Adams. In 1903 he moved to a farm about a mile out of Ludington.
      Mr. and Mrs. Adams made their home on the farm until about ten years ago when they moved to Ludington to reside with their son. Always active in community affairs, during this period Mr. Adams served for four years as supervisor of Pere Marquette township, serving as chairman of the board for one year.
      He was also a pioneer in Grange activities, having served for four years of Pomona Grange and for five years as Master of of Pere Marquette Grange. During this period he was instrumental in organizing four subordinate Granges in Mason County.
      Also active politically, he was a past chairman of the county Republican committee and had served frequently as a delegate from Mason county to State Republican conventions.
      Surviving in addition to the widow and son, Wayne, are three sisters, Mrs. Julia Fraley, of Watertown, N.Y., Mrs. Mary Barbara Vincent of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Katherine Cady, of Penwater, Mich., and a brother George Adams, of Ludington, Mich.
      Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. from the Dorrell chapel, with interment in the Lakeview cemetery, Ludington.
