The Report I referred to, from the Town of Wilna, was from my father's files. It is not in great shape so I'll send you a copy by regular mail. I'll also send you a copy of the document I have regarding CFB's intention to become a citizen to see if it's the same document you have. It was also in my father's things. I have nothing regarding CFB's wife Jean Marie. All I have is her name in the first report, the one from the Town of Wilna. As you probably know, the Town of Wilna has been a part of Fort (Camp) Drum since the early '40's or maybe before. All I have on Susan is from a headstone in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Evans Mills. It's difficult to read. I think it says: SUSAN wife of Francis Becha (spelling) former wife of Peter Croissani died Jan 14, 1885 79yrs 10 mo Susan was born in 1804. CFB was born in 1786 so Susan was only about 18 years younger so it's possible they could have married at least from an age stand point. I also have a document recorded in a court in the County of Jefferson, dated December 3, 1833, signed Claude Francois Bisha stating that it his intention to become a citizen of the United states & renounce forever allegiance to any foreign power.
Note that Joseph V. Besha, that you refer to, is no doubt the 2nd son of Francois & Jeanne Marie that came to Wilna, Jefferson county in 1828. You make reference that Francois married Susan _________. A few years ago I found a headstone in the Catholic Cemetery in Evans Mills, NY that was for the wife of Claude Francois but the name was not Jeanne Marie as shown above. He certainly could have had a second wife. The only children of Claude Fran

The Report I referred to, from the Town of Wilna, was from my father's files. It is not in great shape so I'll send you a copy by regular mail. I'll also send you a copy of the document I have regarding CFB's intention to become a citizen to see if it's the same document you have. It was also in my father's things. I have nothing regarding CFB's wife Jean Marie. All I have is her name in the first report, the one from the Town of Wilna. As you probably know, the Town of Wilna has been a part of Fort (Camp) Drum since the early '40's or maybe before. All I have on Susan is from a headstone in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Evans Mills. It's difficult to read. I think it says: SUSAN wife of Francis Becha (spelling) former wife of Peter Croissani died Jan 14, 1885 79yrs 10 mo Susan was born in 1804. CFB was born in 1786 so Susan was only about 18 years younger so it's possible they could have married at least from an age stand point. Charles Edward Besha, a successful business man of West Carthage, is a descendant of Jefferson County pioneers, and may take a just pride in his ancestry, as can also his wife. The first record now attainable regarding Mr. Besha's paternal forebears is found in the passport of his grandparents, Francis and Mary Jane Bichet, who left Mozer, Maine, de la Commune de Rouchamp [Ronchamp], France, in 1828, the passport bearing date March 15. They were among the people induced by Le Ray de Chaumont to come to this country and settle on his lands in the Town of Le Ray, and here they died, the wife dying January 15, 1859, and Mr. Bichet subsequently married Susan ------.
Joseph Victor Bichet, son of Francis and Mary Jane, was born June 8, 1815, in France and came with his parents to LeRay. They first located in the northern part of the town, known as "Dutch Settlement," where Joseph found occupation in helping make a home. He engaged in farming, renting land, and had just purchased the farm on which his widow and son and daughter now live two weeks before his death, November 24, 1883. This is located northeast of the village of Evans Mills, and north of the ancient village of Slocumville, and includes one hundred acres of farming land. That he was a successful farmer is evidenced by the fact that he was able to purchase this property out of his savings. He was an active Democrat and a leading member of St. Mary's Church which he was instrumental in organizing and in which he was a trustee and one of the builders of the house
of worship.

This indenture made the sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between the Mechanic Fire Insurance Company of the City of New York by James Le Ray de Chaumont ther attorney of the first part & Claude Francois Bichet of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged hath granted bargained sold remised released aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell remise release alien and confirm unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever all that certain lot of land in the town of Wilna County of Jefferson & State of New York and is part of lot No. Eight Hundred Fifty Five of the subdivisions of Great Lot No. Four of Macomb's Purchase and bounded as follows viz:

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to a judgementof foreclosure and sale duly granted in the above entitled action and entered in the office of the Clerk of County of Jefferson on the 12th day of April, 1912, I, the undersigned, the referee therein named, will sell at public auction to the highest bidder on the 27th day of May 1912, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, at the office of Joseph Nellis, plaintiff's attorney, No. 7 Public Square, Watertown, N.Y., the premises in said judgement directed to be sold and therein described as follows, to wit: Beginning in the center of the road leading to Watertown, at the northwest corner of land deeded by Joseph Boyer to James Kinney, Peter Manigold and Francis Bichet the 17th day of September, 1842 (1843?), and turning thence southeasterly along said land of Kinney, Manigold and Bichet, to the northeast corner thereof and the same course continued to land formerly owned by Jefferson Tillinghast; thence notheasterly along said Tillinghast land to land formerly owned by Hector McLean; thence northwesterly, along said McLean's land, to the center of the aforesaid road and thence southwesterly along said road to the place of beginning and containing 50-100 of an acre of land, more or less.

ST. MICHAEL'S (CATHOLIC) CHURCH.
Services were held in dwellings at Evans' Mills and vicinity, by Rev. Father Guth and other priests of the Catholic Church, soon after 1840. The present church building at Evans' Mills was erected in 1847 on a lot of a quarter of an acre, purchased of Joseph Boyer for $80. It is a stone structure about 40 by 60 feet in dimension, and cost about $2500. The trustees at that time were James Kinney, Francis Bichet, and Augustus Grappot.

The Report I referred to, from the Town of Wilna, was from my father's files. It is not in great shape so I'll send you a copy by regular mail. I'll also send you a copy of the document I have regarding CFB's intention to become a citizen to see if it's the same document you have. It was also in my father's things. I have nothing regarding CFB's wife Jean Marie. All I have is her name in the first report, the one from the Town of Wilna. As you probably know, the Town of Wilna has been a part of Fort (Camp) Drum since the early '40's or maybe before. All I have on Susan is from a headstone in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Evans Mills. It's difficult to read. I think it says: SUSAN wife of Francis Becha (spelling) former wife of Peter Croissani died Jan 14, 1885 79yrs 10 mo Susan was born in 1804. CFB was born in 1786 so Susan was only about 18 years younger so it's possible they could have married at least from an age stand point.
