Gladys M. Canell
The funeral for Gladys M. Canell, 80, Curtis Apartments, Watertown, formerly of Evans MIlls, was held Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Evans Mills, with the Rev. Bernanrd Jakubo, parochial vicar of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial was in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
Mrs. Canell died Saturday, Aug. 22 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, where she was admitted Thursday.
Surviving are four daughters, M. Elaine Kelly, Concord, Calif., Helen Hand, Utica, Mrs. Leonard (Beatrice) DiGeronimo, Harrison, Ark., and Mrs. Charles (Gail) Feathers, Syracuse; a stepson, Ronald Canell, Gouverneur; grandchildren; great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Fraley, Watertown; a sister, Mr.s Lewis (Marion) Rockwood, Castle Creek, and two nieces.
She was born June 19, 1912, in the town of Cape Vincent, a daughter of Christopher and Mary Besha Fraley. She later moved with her family to the town of Pamelia.
She married Walter N. Webert in 1930 in LaFargeville. The marriage ended in divorce.
She married Robert Hollis Canell on Aug. 29, 1951. The couple resided in Evans MIlls until March 1980, when they moved to Watertown. Mr. Canell died Feb 6, 1986.
Mrs. Canell was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Gladys M. Canell
WATERTOWN - Gladys M. Canell, 80, of Curtis Apartments, Watertown, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.
Mrs. Canell was a native of Evans Mills. She had lived in Watertown since 1980 and had been living in Syracuse with her daughter for the past several weeks.
Her husband, Robert, died in 1986.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Watertown.
Surviving are four daughters, Elaine Kelly of Concord, Calif., Helen Hand of Utica, Beatrice DiGeronimo of Harrison, Ark., and Gail Feathers of Syracuse; a step-son, Ronald of Governeur; one brother. Robert Fraley of Watertown; one sister, Marion Rockwood of Castle Creek; two nieces; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home in Evans Mills. Burial will be Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
