Thanks. I have been working on my Almira Sixbury's spouse Cortland Helmer & looking for his parents for many years & still did not find who his parents were. .I have been trying to find out if Philip G. Helmer & wife Lana were his parents.They were in Sandy Creek census in 1830 & 1850 census. Sold their property in 1855 & moved to Mich. Cortland was working on the David Cummings farm and was listed as being 19 years old in the 1850 census of Sandy Creek, N. Y.
Almira Sixbury b Nov 1846 Ellisburg, Jefferson County, N. Y. m abt 1863 Cortland Helmer b bet 1815-1831 Sandy Creek, Oswego County, N. Y.(So far it has not been possible to even come up with a close approximate date of Cortland's birth because of the various ages given in the different census & two different obit's given on him. One said he was believed to be 104 years old another obit states he was over 90 years old. Without going into detail about it I have a gut feeling that he was born about 1830 or 1831).
Cortland m Elmira for his second wife & they had at least the following children. (Surname Helmer)
1. Electra b Dec 31, 1866 m Riley Franklin
2. Maria b abt 11867 m John Jackson
3. Benjamin b July 4, 1870 m Flora Edna Cole (My wife's Grand parents).
4. Polly b abt 1871 m George Frederick Dana
5. Mary Elizabeth b Feb 17, 1876 m Frederick Chrisman
6. Nora b 1880 m Foster Dana
7. Edith Mae b Aug 11, ?? m John C. Sixbury
8. Pearl b Dec 19, 1886 m Lulu Barrows.
Edith Mae Helmer # 7 above died Oct 17, 1956 m John C. Sixbury b Dec 25, ?? d March 17, 1931. They lived in Phoenix N.Y. 1n 1931.
They had the following children as far as I can ascertain: (Surname Sixbury)

2. Herbert Henry b June 15, 1804 d March 24, 1970
3. Anna Mae b ?? d Dec 25, 1931
4. Homer Edwin b Feb 2, 1916 b Jan 10, 1978
5. Dorpthy Mae b ?? d ??
6. Marion Ruth b ?? only lived six days.
John C. Sixbury B Dec 25, ?? above was the son of Stephen Henry Sixbury b June 1845 & Harriet Hollenbeck b ??. Stephen was a Civil War Soldier.
I have been told that there are lots of Sixbury's burred in the Sand Hill cemetery, Pennelville, Town of Schroeppel, Oswego County, N. Y. I haven't had time to follow up on that yet.
If I haven't messed it up this is some of what I have.
