Hi Paul. Thanks for reaching out about the James B. Jenkins and the connection between our family trees.

Based on the information I have, James' father was Robert C. Jenkins (1845-1898) and Martha A. Johnson (1851-?) Martha Johnson was the sister of my great grandfather Walter Jefferson Beauregard Johnson (1861-1948). Martha's and Walter's parents were Edward Hewet Johnson (1811-?) and Mary Ann Welch (1826-?) of Charlotte Hall in St. Mary's County, just over the Charles County line. Edward Hewet Johnson was married multiple times which makes this part of the family history a bit complicated but which I've been able to locate church and land records which help piece it together.

In preparing this reply, I tried to figure out how I made the link between the Martha A. Johnson living with her parents and younger brother Amon in Charlotte Hall in the 1860 census and the "M.A. Jenkins" married to Robert and living in Port Tobacco, Charles County in the 1870 census. I am almost positive I got the marriage record from my trip down to the St. Mary's archives or another source, but I can't put my hands on it at the moment.

      I see, however, that your
