    Paul,

I have been researching the Silas Hoover family since the 1962 when I began doing genealogy.

I have accumulated quite a few primary and secondary documents, copies and originals as well. The Hoover file for Silas and his immediate family and descendants is over an inch thick. There is extensive correspondence with several distant cousins which have excellent family records including journals, Bible records and histories to whom I owe a great deal. I have the information consolidated onto family group records. I will begin by sending you just Silas' family and will include documentation or at least footnotes for sources.

Now, tell me how you'd like to receive the information. I suppose a hard copy via mail would be OK. I might also be able to send it as an attachment to an e-mail. Can you open PAF gedcom? If a hard copy is acceptable, you'll need to send me your address. Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Dennis Devereaux

    Paul,

Here is the first Hoover installment. For some reason or another I can only send single families as an attachment. So I'll begin with Silas Hoover's family. Let me know if you have any problems opening the file.

I'm sure you'll have some questions about sources, particularly in the case of Silas' mother, Elizabeth Stahring. How did I know she was Jacobus' wife. How and why did I decide Jacubus Hoover was married to Elizabeth Stahring. What proof do I have? I"l review my notes and explain why I think she was. Give me some time on that one!

As I have said already, much of the information on Silas' family and descendants comes from family Bibles, Hoover Bibles, personal journals, letters, obituaries, etc. in possession of Silas' various descendants who lived across a wide area in Southern Michigan. With the passing of the older Hoover descendants who possessed them in the early 1960's, they have now been passed on to others. Who has them is unknown to me. Hilda Blasius and others I wrote or spoke with quote them in their records and correspondence. I can only note who had possession of them at the time of my research and trust that the information was copied accurately. To date, I haven't found anything in any sources that would contradict their information. Everything I've found collaborates with their records.

Having said that, let me know how many generations you would like of the Hoover record, much of which I have yet to enter in my PAF record.

    Best wishes,

    Dennis Devereaux
